Managing Your Grocery List
Your grocery list in marinaid is shared with your household and syncs across all your devices via iCloud.
Adding items from a recipe
Section titled “Adding items from a recipe”- Open a recipe.
- Tap Add to Grocery List.
- marinaid adds the ingredients — anything that matches something already in your pantry is set aside under Items in Pantry instead of being added automatically. Tap a pantry match to move it onto your list if you’re actually out.
- Tap Add to confirm.
Adding items manually
Section titled “Adding items manually”- Go to Grocery in the tab bar.
- Tap + Add Item.
- Type the item name and optionally add a quantity and unit.
- Tap Add.
Checking items off
Section titled “Checking items off”Tap any item to mark it as checked. Checked items move to the bottom of the list so you can focus on what’s left.
Tap a checked item again to uncheck it.
Viewing by aisle or by recipe
Section titled “Viewing by aisle or by recipe”Switch between Category and Recipe view using the picker at the top of the list. Category view groups items by store aisle — marinaid categorizes each item automatically (using on-device AI for anything it doesn’t recognize from simpler rules), so you don’t have to sort your list by hand. Recipe view groups items by the recipe they came from.
Swapping an ingredient
Section titled “Swapping an ingredient”If you’d rather buy something different, tap the shuffle icon on the right side of the item’s row to view substitutes. Marinaid suggests alternatives for that ingredient — this is general cooking guidance, so results vary by recipe (baking is less forgiving about substitutions than everyday cooking).
The shuffle icon only appears on items Marinaid knows a substitute for, so you won’t see it on every row. Tapping the row itself checks the item off rather than opening substitutes.
Clearing the list
Section titled “Clearing the list”Tap Clear Checked to remove all checked items at once, or tap Clear All to start fresh.
Sharing with your household
Section titled “Sharing with your household”Your grocery list is automatically shared with everyone in your household. Any changes — adding, checking off, or removing items — sync in real time via iCloud.
Ordering and syncing your list
Section titled “Ordering and syncing your list”- Instacart — send your list to Instacart for delivery. See Ordering with Instacart for how it works.
- Apple Reminders — sync your list two-way with a Reminders list of your choice. See Sync to Apple Reminders.
- Use your pantry to keep staples you already have off your shopping list.
- For voice commands, see Siri & Shortcuts.
