Importing from TikTok
Found a recipe on TikTok you want to cook later? Here’s how to save it to Marinaid.
How to import from TikTok
Section titled “How to import from TikTok”- Open the TikTok app and find the recipe video you want to save.
- Tap the Share button (the arrow icon on the right side of the video).
- Scroll the bottom row of apps and look for Marinaid. If you don’t see it, tap More at the end of the row.
- Tap Marinaid — the recipe will be imported into your library.
What gets imported
Section titled “What gets imported”Marinaid first reads the text from the TikTok video description and extracts the recipe. It works best when the creator included the full recipe — ingredients and instructions — in the video caption.
If the caption doesn’t contain a usable recipe, Marinaid will also try listening to the video’s audio narration and transcribing it on-device — many cooking videos have the creator talking through the recipe as they cook, even when the caption is empty or vague.
Turning a spoken narration into a structured recipe requires Apple Intelligence. If Apple Intelligence isn’t supported on your device, or is turned off, Marinaid can still import videos whose caption contains the recipe, but a narration-only video won’t produce one. You can enable Apple Intelligence in Settings, if your device supports it.
Tips for best results
Section titled “Tips for best results”- Look for videos with the recipe in the description. Many creators include the full recipe in the caption below the video. These import the best and fastest.
- Videos where the creator narrates the recipe out loud also work well, even without a full caption, thanks to on-device audio transcription — this path needs Apple Intelligence.
- If the recipe is only shown as on-screen text with no narration or caption, Marinaid won’t be able to extract it. Try taking screenshots of the recipe steps and using photo import instead.
- If the import is incomplete, tap Edit on the imported recipe to add missing details.
Alternative methods
Section titled “Alternative methods”If the share sheet doesn’t work for a particular video:
- Screenshot + photo import — Pause the video when the recipe is shown on screen, take a screenshot, and use Marinaid’s photo import.
- Copy and paste — If the recipe is in the description, copy the text and use Import from Text in Marinaid.
