Importing from Instagram
Instagram is a great source for recipe inspiration. Here’s how to save Instagram recipes directly to Marinaid.
How to import from Instagram
- Open the Instagram app and find the recipe post or Reel you want to save.
- Tap the Share button (the paper airplane icon) below the post.
- Scroll the bottom row of apps and look for Marinaid. If you don’t see it, tap More at the end of the row.
- Tap Marinaid — the recipe will be imported into your library.
What gets imported
Marinaid reads the text from the Instagram post description and extracts the recipe details — title, ingredients, and instructions. It works best when the post creator included the full recipe in the caption.
Tips for best results
- Look for posts with the recipe in the caption. If the recipe is only shown in the video or as text on an image, Marinaid may not be able to extract it. In that case, try importing from a screenshot instead.
- Reels work too. Tap the Share button on a Reel just like you would on a regular post.
- If the import is incomplete, you can edit the recipe after saving to fill in any missing ingredients or steps.
Alternative methods
If the share sheet doesn’t work for a particular post:
- Screenshot + photo import — Take a screenshot of the recipe text and use Marinaid’s photo import to extract it via OCR.
- Copy and paste — Copy the recipe text from the Instagram caption, then use Import from Text in Marinaid.
Why can’t I paste an Instagram URL?
Instagram doesn’t make post content available to other apps via URL alone — the content is behind their app’s login. That’s why the share sheet is the recommended method. It lets Marinaid receive the post content directly from the Instagram app.
