Importing from Facebook
See a recipe on Facebook you want to save? Here’s how to get it into Marinaid.
Using the share sheet (recommended)
- Open the Facebook app and find the recipe post you want to save.
- Tap the Share button below the post.
- Tap More options or Share to… to open the system share sheet.
- Look for Marinaid in the app row. If you don’t see it, tap More at the end of the row.
- Tap Marinaid — the recipe will be imported into your library.
From a Facebook link to a recipe website
Many Facebook posts link out to recipe blogs and websites. If the post contains a link:
- Tap the link in the Facebook post to open it in the browser.
- From the browser, tap the Share button and select Marinaid, or copy the URL and use Import from URL in Marinaid.
This often produces the best results since recipe websites typically have structured data that Marinaid can parse accurately.
What gets imported
When sharing directly from a Facebook post, Marinaid reads the text content of the post. It works best when the recipe (ingredients and instructions) is written out in the post itself.
Tips for best results
- Posts linking to recipe websites give the best results — follow the link and import from the website instead.
- If the recipe is only in an image or video, Marinaid can’t extract it from the share. Try taking a screenshot and using photo import.
- Facebook group posts work the same way — use the Share button on the post.
- If the import is incomplete, you can edit the recipe after saving to fill in any gaps.
Alternative methods
- Screenshot + photo import — Take a screenshot of the recipe and use Marinaid’s photo import.
- Copy and paste — Select and copy the recipe text from the post, then use Import from Text in Marinaid.
