Speak a Recipe

No card, no cookbook, no screenshot — just talk through the recipe and Marinaid will write it down for you.

How to speak a recipe

1. Open Marinaid and tap the + button.
2. Tap Speak.
3. Tap the microphone button and describe the recipe out loud — ingredients and steps, in whatever order feels natural.
4. Tap the button again to pause, or Save Recipe when you’re done.
5. Marinaid transcribes the recording on-device and extracts a structured recipe — title, ingredients, and instructions.
6. Review the result and edit anything before saving.

Recordings can run up to about 44 minutes.

Requirements

Speak a Recipe requires Apple Intelligence to turn your transcript into a structured recipe. If Apple Intelligence isn’t supported on your device, or is turned off, Marinaid will let you know when you tap Speak rather than starting a recording it can’t finish. You can enable Apple Intelligence in Settings, if your device supports it.

Tips for best results

• Say ingredients and quantities clearly — “two cups of flour” transcribes more reliably than mumbled amounts.
• Walk through it like you’re teaching someone — mention prep steps, cook times, and temperatures as you’d say them out loud.
• You can pause and resume if you need to check something before continuing.
• Review before saving — speech transcription and extraction aren’t perfect; double-check ingredient amounts especially.
