Send Diagnostic Logs to Support
If our support team has asked you to send diagnostic information, marinaid can email a small log file directly from inside the app. The log helps us troubleshoot issues with sync, household sharing, and other behind-the-scenes problems.
Steps
- Open marinaid on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your Account icon in the top-right corner.
- Scroll down to the Support section.
- Tap Support Tools.
- Tap Send Diagnostics.
- Your Mail app will open with a pre-filled email to support@marinaid.app, including the diagnostic log as an attachment.
- Above the divider line in the email, briefly describe what you were doing when the issue happened (for example, “tried to add my partner to my household and the app crashed”).
- Tap Send.
That’s it — we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
What’s in the log
The diagnostic log contains technical information about errors and sync events only:
- App version, iOS version, and device model
- Times that sync attempts succeeded or failed
- Error messages from CloudKit, household sharing, and account services
The log does not contain:
- Your recipes, ingredients, photos, or notes
- Your iCloud password or Apple ID
- Your name, email, or phone number (beyond what’s in the “From” field of the email you send)
- Your grocery list, meal plan, or any household member details
You can review the attached file before sending — it’s a plain text file you can open in any text app.
”Mail Not Available” message
If you see this message when tapping Send Diagnostics, your device’s Mail app isn’t set up. You have two options:
- Set up Mail. Open Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account, add your email account, then return to marinaid and try again.
- Email us directly. Send a message to support@marinaid.app describing the issue. We can help with most problems even without the diagnostic log.
When to send the log
Send the log when:
- Support has asked you to.
- You’re reporting a bug involving sync, household sharing, recipe import, or anything that “didn’t work” in a way that’s hard to describe.
You don’t need to send it for general questions, feature requests, or feedback — a regular email to support@marinaid.app is fine for those.
