Import Troubleshooting
Recipe import works with most sites, but some pages may not import correctly. Here’s how to troubleshoot.
Common reasons imports fail
- The page doesn’t have structured recipe data — Some sites use non-standard formats that MarinAid can’t parse.
- The recipe is behind a paywall or login — MarinAid can only read publicly accessible pages.
- The page loaded dynamically — Some sites load recipe content via JavaScript after the initial page load.
- The URL points to a video, not a recipe page — TikTok and Instagram imports work best when the post contains recipe text in the description.
What to try
- Refresh and retry — Delete the failed import and try again. Some failures are transient.
- Try the share sheet — If pasting a URL doesn’t work, try sharing directly from the browser.
- Use photo import — Take a screenshot of the recipe and import it as a photo instead.
- Add manually — If all else fails, you can add the recipe by hand.
Report an unsupported site
If a site consistently fails to import, email support@marinaid.app with the URL. We may be able to add support for it.
Incomplete imports
If a recipe imports but is missing ingredients or steps, tap Edit on the recipe to fill in the gaps. The original URL is saved so you can reference the source.
