Cooking Mode
Cooking mode lets you step through a recipe one instruction at a time — keeping your screen on and your place while your hands are busy.
Starting cooking mode
- Open a recipe.
- Tap Start Cooking at the bottom of the screen.
- marinaid switches to a full-screen view showing the first step.
Navigating steps
- Swipe left or tap Next to advance to the next step.
- Swipe right or tap Back to revisit a previous step.
- The progress bar at the top shows how far through the recipe you are.
Live Activities
When you start cooking mode, marinaid starts a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island (iPhone 14 Pro and later). This shows:
- The current step number and total steps
- A brief preview of the current instruction
You can glance at your Lock Screen without unlocking your phone while your hands are messy.
Timers
If a step includes a time (“simmer for 10 minutes”), tap the timer chip to start a countdown. The timer runs in the background and sends a notification when it finishes.
Ending cooking mode
Tap Done in the top right, or swipe down, to exit cooking mode. You’ll be prompted to rate the recipe.
Tips
- Lock screen brightness stays on during cooking mode — plug in your device if you’re cooking a long recipe.
- You can switch apps without losing your place; cooking mode resumes where you left off.
